Only 3 years until the world turns to Edo era

I found an interesting book on internet and went to some book stores to buy it because I wanted read it soon. However, I couldn't find it. The tittle of the book is "Only 3 years until the world turns to Edo era"( あと３年で世界は江戸になる). It is written by an economist who reconsiders Edo-era.

Many Japanese friends got laughing when they heard the book's tittle and I also did so too. After I read the Product Description, I decided to buy it. I look forward to read it. Haha. If the book is interesting, I'll show what he wrote.



Well, today very cold wind blew. It was as if I'm in Hokkaido. The wind was same as Hokkaido's one. It must be came from Siberia. I got a headache due to the wind.



These months I'm quite busy. I have many things I have to catch up on. All in all, I couldn't take a rest yesterday. Hmm, too bad.



Season of plum blossoms is around corner in Japan. I look forward to enjoy to see the trees. Especially, plum blossoms in snow escape is so beautiful. Maybe they already are blooming. Let it snow!



Some friends ask me to translate sentence into Japanese and help to study Japanese though, I don't have much time and please ask other Japanese friend.

大寒(Daikan: Coldest season) ended here. Yesterday It snowed here. We have snow about 5cm deep. I was very glad and enjoyed to see snowing and to walk in snow. These days I enjoy 柚子湯(Yuzu-yu). Yuzu is a kind of Orange. "Yu" means bath in this case. We have Yuzu in a bath. Yuzu makes the body feel warm and buffs our skin. And Yuzu's aroma is very nice. If you find Yuzu in your country, I recommend you to buy and use it. Yuzu is also a foodstuff. You can image Yuzu is a kind of Lemons.



In case you didn't know, mandarin orange is different from Yuzu. As to mandarin orange, if you want to revive your hair, sun mandarin orange peels, and set the peels in Shoucyu(Japanese distilled spirit) and put on your head. I have sufficient quantity of hairs and I haven't tried it though, I heard so. These years Japanese hair growth tonic contains extractive of mandarin orange. Now we can re-grow our hair at a hospital though. I guess if you put on your holes of your nose, your nose hair may get a little too long. :-) Be careful. Today, it is very windy. I can fly with my umbrella.



Hmm, I watch news about America these days. I think American government must pump public funds into banking market , or America will follow in the footstep of Japan. Japan didn't do it quickly, and we faced "Lost decade". And Democrats take a stance of placing importance on welfare policy, if America knocked sideways by recession, Democrat's campaign pledge may be a kind of fictitious paper. It is often said "Welfare is matter of money".

American people are prompt in action. Although I have to follow the cue of American people, I think I can't do it because I think twice, and more twice. I guess the promptness is a source of power of America. Also I am quick in action after I came to a conclusion. I often am impatient with Japanese people because they are not quick in action. Especially politicians are not prompt in action and took much time and their conclusions are often nonsensical middle course (watered-down bill). Might be we should transfer Japanese government into private hands.



These days I carefully monitor the economic situation in America. If America evolves into a recession, Japan can't escape unharmed. If America only slow down slightly from last year, it is no problem. However, current situation in America is good predictor of a recession. Measures by FRB and President Bush are the key, I think. In Japan, it is said if FRB cuts in interest rates drastically and government goes all out, it take on the features of a bubble. However, I guess we need a fairy story to cause bubble, like IT-bubble(IT revolution-induced boom). I can't find it now.



American economic clout accounts for 25% of the world total now. It was 33% in 2001. Japan's one is less than 10% now. We are degrading. Already trades between emerging countries are on the move. It is a age of Multi-polar-world and Multi-coupling-world, I think. when I come to think about it, I live in an interesting age no one has experienced. Although recession in America deliver a damaging blow, basic direction is multipolarity. China, India, Islam, U.S.A, EU, Brazil, Russia and Japan.



I heard a worrisome tip. Taiwan wants to become a part of China? I loved to read a book written by 李登輝 (Lee Teng-hui.) who graduated Kyoto-University in 京都(Kyoto). Thanks to his book, I learned to be more patient when I was 24 years old. I sting the tears when I recall about the book. Personally I hope Taiwan attains independence because Taiwan became democratic and because I heard main land China hasn't governed Taiwan practically. It was not so much rip-off as governing. I'm not sure though. To establish an economic and democratic union with Japan and South Korea is the best way if we can, just I guess.



Oh, Well, I have to sleep.

2008年も「偽」、ずっと「偽」(in Japanese)

　2007年の世相を表す漢字は「偽」だそうで、筆で大きく「偽」と書いているお坊さんを「今更何を言うのか」と思って見ていました。「偽」は2007年だけでなく、永遠のテーマでしょう。「偽」が表沙汰になり始める年という意味だったとしたら、それはそうかも知れませんけども。



　製紙業界では再生紙の割合を偽装。実は再生紙の割合が１％だったケースもあるそうで、全くけしからん話です。40％と表記するならば、せめて３０％はいれなさい。（そういう問題でもないですね。）



　環境に良い紙を使おうとなったとき、製紙会社が、「完全な再生紙よりも、40%程度の割合のものの方が製造工程の問題を考えると結果的に環境に良い」と言っていたので、言う通りにしたことがあるのですが、今思い出してみると苦笑いせざる得ません。そういう説明を受けて買ったのに言う通りの再生紙ではなかったのだから、これって詐欺ですよね。



　ところで、製紙業界の取引先が「納入をやめる」と宣言したそうですが、これは怪しい。何が怪しいかと言うと、印刷機器メーカーなどの取引先の多くは元々知っていたに違いないからです。紙は印刷されることを前提に作られており、印刷機は紙を印刷することを前提として作られています。だから印刷技術者は紙にも精通しているはずです。彼らがどういう紙であったか知らなかったとは思えません。当然、「こういう紙を作ってくれ」という要望もあったでしょう。どうやら製紙会社だけに責任を押し付けるつもりのようです。



　食品業界のことに関しても、「今頃言ってるのか」と思います。船場吉兆の松坂牛味噌ステーキは、贈り物でもらうことが多く、小さい頃から何度も食べてきましたが、我が家では誰も松坂牛だと信じていませんでした。松坂牛だとしても、出来損ないだろうと思っていました。食べてみれば一目瞭然であったのに、なにを今更・・・。もっと早いうちに問題にして欲しかったです。船場吉兆（吉兆といっても色々ある）の女将は、ノーネクタイの人は追い返していると報道されてますが、女将がずっと変わっていないなら、それは少し違います。入れてもらえる人もいれば、そうでない人もいます。まぁ、船場吉兆は他にも色々言われていますが、料理の世界は一代限りということでしょうね。



　さて、「偽」の今後ですが、どこまで追求されるか少し興味があります。とことん追求したならば、日本の会社のほぼ全てが新聞に名を連ねることになるでしょうね。南無三。

13 years ago, January 17th, The Great Hanshin Earthquake killed more than 5,000 people at Kobe and Osaka etc. It is thankful for small mercies because the earth quake occurred in early morning. If it occurred during daytimes hours, awful lot of people might be killed.



Kobe, which was the largest harbor city until the earth quake, was in ruins. walls of tall buildings readied to fall onto my head. Collapsed Houses was crushing deaths. Stations were heaps of rubble. Bridge collapsed immediately after I passed on by my motor cycle. Also, My Hanshin-Tigers suffered a battering their owner company's profits and became slumping and Giants fans derided my Tigers.



Japanese government calculate several thousand of people will be killed if huge earth quake occurs in Tokyo. BAT, I think more people will be killed. I saw Great Hanshin Earth Quake and its damage. Absolutely, tens of thousand of people will be killed. They would not see about buildings which got by with slipshod work. The calculation would have no foundation, I think.

New Year's Visit to Kitain-Temple

I visited 喜多院(Kitain-temple) today for "new year's visit to a temple". I wished my good luck and good luck of people around in front of 不動明王(Fudou-Myou-ou). There were a lot of people, even though today is 13th of January. Believers of Tendai buddhism's number is only 600 thousands in Japan. So, I think most of them are not a believer of Tendai. But we don't care about difference of sects. Realistically speaking, Tendai buddhism is one of the most famous sect, but a number of believers is very small, hence it doesn't have much money. We should welcome visitors. :-)



According to a news report, the number of visitors for new year's visit to a shrine or a temple is increasing these years around Japan. Current Japanese people need to pray to God for help, I think. :-) However, I think Japan's future is promised, objectively speaking. (However, Idleness is the devil's workshop.)



Well, to get back to my original point,,,, I bought a 招き猫(Maneki-neko, beckoning cat). (Explanation about Manekineko is here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maneki_Neko) And I consulted an oracle. Its result was "大吉(Excellent Luck)".



I also visited Nakain-temple too. I prefer this temple to Kitain-temple. Nakain has good air. I prayed again in front of Amitabha Buddha in a quiet and calm atmosphere.



And I ate Ramen at main street of Kawagoe city. The Ramen restaurant called Tenka-ippin is from Kyoto. I did some part-time work at a Ramen restaurant which is run by a younger brother of the founder of the Tenka-ippin, when I was a high student. The taste is very similar to each other. It was good old taste. These days I want to move to Kawagoe city. Perhaps, Tendai-Buddhism is a basis of my spiritual nature and my logical thinking, even though Tendai-thought is not same as mine but Tendai buddhism can include most of all thought of Japan's buddhism because it is a kind of depertment store of Japan's buddhism. Perhaps Nakain is a place I can get back to "Zero".



Well, I have to read a book, I'll write tomorrow too. Have a nice week. I still didn't replay to personal messages my frineds sent to me. I'll write back tomorrow.

Regrettable News etc

Yesterday, Mr. Ekiho Miyazaki, the "78th Kanjyu" of Eiheiji temple, died at 106 years old. Perhaps, he was the most famous zen monk in Japan, except historical characters. So far, NHK made feature programs about him at least 2 times as far as I know.



I watched the DVD of those TV programs when I suffered from serious decease. I couldn't sleep because I was worry about my future, but when I was watching them, I could sleep. His words are very thoughtful. "平気でおれる時は平気でおったらええんや。(When you can be unconcerned, you should be unconcerned.)" was impressive for me. His life was a "text book" for my Zen study. I wanted to meet him but it became impossible. It is Regrettable,,,,.



He was a monk who can explain about Buddhism by one's life. He was respected by many people and he was with a sense of humor. He was the crown-jewel of Japan, I think.



Japan became one of largest countries with an established reputation. However, culture can decline even if civilization flourished. I hope his death is not on the decline of culture.



By the way, my family is not behavers of Zen buddhism, we are Tendai buddhism's ones since 8th or 9th century. I still didn't go new year's visit to a temple. 不動明王(Acalanatha) expels evil for me. Hmm, I am thinking how I should make a wish this year. For better luck? prosperous business? accomplishment of my study? Hmm... Maybe what Acalanatha should expel is my want. Haha.

In Ryoanji, there is a temple called "Seigen-in". There, you can eat Yudofu and Shojin-ryori-dishes. Seigenin's ones are one of most delicious dishes for me. I recommend you to eat them if you want to eat Japanese dishes at Kyoto because it costed me only 3,800 yen or so. If kitchener is same person, you can eat one one most delicious Japanese dishes, I'm sure. However, one Canadian boy ate them unappetizingly. Haha.

Happy New Year!

I wish this year become a good year for you. This year, I dreamed a very good Hatuyume-dream. Hatsuyume is the Japanese word for the dream seen on the night of January 2nd. I'm off to a promising start.



On New Year's Eve, my friend who works for a noodle company visited my family home and we chatted about inside story of food industry and ate Soba noodle his company made for high-class Japanese-style restaurant. During New Year three days, I ate Osechi, Ozoni etc, and slept. It was a peaceful New Year's three days. I will come back to my battle field from next monday.



On my return route, I watched Mt. Fuji out of the window of Shinkansen-bullet-train. It was really beautiful and I intended to pray. But I didn't out of shame. :-) I thought Mt. Fuji-belief started like what I intended.

明けましておめでとうございます。



みなさんにとって良い一年になることをお祈り申し上げます。今年はとても良い初夢をみまして、さい先のよいスタートとなりました。今年も大晦日の深夜に製麺会社に務めてる友達が、ありがたくも高級料亭用のそば麺を土産に訪ねてきてくれて、食品業界の裏話など聞きながら、一緒に年越しそばを食べて日付が変わり、あとはおせちをたべて、お雑煮を食べて、寝るだけという三が日でした。平和な時間でした。週明けからは戦場に復帰です。



帰りの新幹線から見た富士山は拝みたくなるほど美しく、ほんとに拝もうかと思ったのですが、隣に人がいたのでやめときました。（笑）まぁでも、富士山信仰というのは、こういう感じで始まったのかなと思いました。
