When I majored philosophy in an university, I mainly studied buddhism. The difference between christian faith and Japanese buddhism is whether they accept human community or not. Japanese buddhism admits to this world, thus there is lack of energy to change our society. This concept is common among Japanese Buddhist scholars.
When it comes to moral reawakening issue, we find a lack of base of thought. Some people advocates we should practice Bushido again. However, it is too old. I do like to practice Kyudo, but it will not be accept by common. Even if philosophers address to the moral issue, they will arrive at a conclusion same as Buddhism. Because if we seek a logical consistency, we can't attest justice of moral. If we all realize buddhism enlightenment,,,But I can say the assumption is distant.
We need some thought to control bad side of individualism. However, every thoughts are destined to be relativize. There is no absolute thought in Japan. I wonder whether Japanese politicians can resolve the moral issue.
The photo is Shokasonjyuku in Hagi.
