Robots

Yesterday a Japanese company, Kawada Industries, Inc. break a news that they developed a humanoid robot which work at building site. The photo is the one of the robot. I guess many humanoid robots work at work site in near future. The Robot, will be improved on, will be brought out in 2010. It cost you only 10 million yen, $80,000 or so. It is cheaper than hiring someone. I guess we will meet with many robots in 2020s. Maybe, by 2050, Japanese soldiers may be replaced by robots. Toilets may vanish from war zone. I guess civil officer should be replaced by robots because they commit embezzlement and take a nap during working hours.

I'm not sure what the robot is able to. But already, some buildings are made automatically by robots in Japan. I guess the robots do something human do now. I think people who's developed the robot are fan of Gandam.

In future, robots have artificial skin would be in our homes. They would speak and get a joke and also can say "Your joke is not fun.". They may say "Don't try to help me! Leave me alone!". They may fall in love with you. I guess human should not develop perfect humanoid robot because no one may not marry with human. Robots which have generative function might be released in future. Babies whose father is human and mother is robot may born in. A human baby whose father is robot and mother is also robot might born in.

They may pioneer Mars etc. They may get first contact with aliens. They could cost a lot of works our job. It seems Kawada's stock went sky-high yesterday. I think people are hasty.

How about time machine? I have been waiting for it. I want future newspapers to know share prices. :-) I guess someone might already develop it and keep it in secrecy.

I didn't know many non-Japanese regard Japan as robot-country. I heard more than 40% of all industrial robots in the world are in Japan several days ago. I understood it.

Have a nice future with robots.

(Only in Japanese)

(Ohara) is in northern Kyoto. It would take one hour or so to go to Ohara from centre of Kyoto by trains. Then you need to get in a bus to go the temple I recommend. There are buddhist temples of Tendai sect. The name of temples is Gyo-san. Gyo means a fish. San means a mountain. Those temples are imperial family ones. We call imperial ones as "Monzeki Jiin". Monzeki means imperial family. Jiin means temples. I've introduce the temple on this blog site before.

If you enjoy to see buddhist statues, you must visit Gyosan. Tendai's buddhist statue collections are most excellent in Japan. Also in Ohara, There are many statues in the temples.

If you want to enjoy snowscape of Japanese garden. You must visit Gyosan. Gyosan is in northern mountain side. Often it snows at Ohara.

If you couldn't see cherry blossoms in Japan, you must visit Ohara. You can enjoy to see cherry blossoms at Ohara in winter. The contrast between white snow and cherry blossoms are really beautiful. You can see them, drinking Japanese green powdered tea and Japanese cakes.

Sanzen-in is most famous temple among temples in Ohara. People in Kinki region know a commercial song "Kyoto Ohara Sanzenin" with melody. But in weekdays, there are not many people in Ohara. Very calm atmosphere enwraps you in Ohara.

Ohara is place where is said "We can hear even sounds of a chestnut falls" You can sit down with many buddhist statues at a temple in calm air in winter. When I visit last time, I spent one hour alone, with buddhas. Those statues are so excellent and you would feel existence of Buddhas. You can speak of them. Might be they replay. Whatever religion you believe, Buddhas would replay you.

There is a fall called as Otonashi-no-taki. Otonashi means "no sounds", no means "of" Taki means a fall. Namely the name means "The waterfall without any sound". A monk, Ryonin, was in Gyosan. One day Ryonin sang a sutra. Then the sounds of falling water synchronize with the sutra song and vanished. It would mean the waterfall also sang the sutra. The waterfall is in a little back in the mountain. You can enjoy climbing.

A famous poet, Saigyo compose a poem.

He admired the fall with the poem. It means "The fall is called as the waterfall with no sounds but the fall become far more famous than what it used to be." This poem has very good sound. Ohara is also a place of literature. What a enjoyable place!

Women in Ohara are also famous. They are called Oharame. "me" means women. You want to enjoy the women? But the women I saw were not young. I think many gentlemen were disappointed now. Sorry.

Haiku poet also composed poems.

Drizzling, Oharame, chatting, walking. By Takahama Kyoshi.

I like this poem in the sense that he used perfect ordinary words. I think the ordinary but a little stimulating sight he described contrasts favorably with the world of poem which tend to be dramatic. Although I don't know what Kyoshi felt at Ohara.

Also there are many other poems of Ohara.

To be continue,,,

I took the photo today. The flowers are hydrangea. I think many hydrangea bloom at many temples and shrines all over Japan now. In this season, I used to go through a alley where so many hydrangea bloom out to go to university.

Have a nice week.

Last Chance to visit Japan at low price?

Some westerners may think Japan's price of commodity is still high. But it isn't. Although the commodity price was very high in 1990s, now many are inexpensive than other G-5 countries.

Suppose you pay about 3.68 euros for a drink at Starbucks in Germany, you can buy the drink at about 2.5 euros in Japan.

How much is Big-Mac in America now? It costs you $2.31 in Japan. Hamburger costs you 66 cent at McDonald's in Japan. How much is Starbucks's cafe late in America? It cost you 310 yen, $ 2.56 (Short size) in Japan now. I used to drop in Starbucks in Tokorozawa station when it costed me 280 yen, $ 2.31 at current exchange rate. Now I go to another coffee shop its late costs me only $ 1.73 and it contains less sugar than Starbucks's one.

I bought many things in America when I was a high school student. I think Tabacco was the only thing which is expensive than Japanese one. Marlboro costed 250 yen, $ 2.27 at exchange rate of the age, per pack includes 20 cigarets in Japan while it costed over $4 in some quarters in America. As I recall, I've seen Marlboro was selling at $ 4.4 at one Holiday-In in Arizona.

Now accommodation fee in Japan is gradually rising up. There are 2 reasons among I know. One is economic upturn. The other is cheap yen. Yen's ability to buy is weak now. People tends to go domestic tour now in comparison with what we used to.

Some Japanese analysts started to mention it would become "weakening of the dollar against the yen". Given Dow-Jones average doesn't run up anymore, Japan's NIKKEI which is reasonable in price may run up. People buy Yen through dealing stocks and investment trusts. As the result, Yen may run up. Sensuously, $1 is 100 yen. 1 Euro may 120 yen or so.

Now $1 is over 120 yen. 1 euro is over 160 yen. $1 was 79 yen once in 1990s. Japanese export-related businesses went to pale.

Japanese commodity price is inexpensive now. But those may run up. This year may become the last chance in 00s. Future is uncertain though.

Well, I will write about tourist attractions I can recommend in Japan tonight or tomorrow's night. In those place, there are not many non-Japanese people and you can enjoy Japanese traditional culture many non-Japanese tourists haven't experienced.

I took the photo at Koku-koen park.

My dialog etc.

Today I went to the dentist. Because my gold tooth tear loose from my tooth last saturday. Dentist said the cause was bad tooth and she found 2 bad teeth. I have to go again.

Last weekend I got in contact with my friend who is a dentist and he said he hasn't treated anyone these years, he may lop off another teeth. I remembered, I've heard a female patient yelled with fright when he treated the patient because he told about the interval to the patient on the straight and his hand was shuddering and he said the patient was quivery and without color and eventually his sub treated the patient. I had to go another dentist. The female dentist who are treating my teeth is skilled. Skilled more than my friend, even though very younger than my friend. :-)

I think I should keep a watchful eyes on wether report in America. I have stocks of shipping business companies. If Hurricane hit oil industry, if people of the industry evacuated, oil price may skyrocket.

These weeks, mid-sized shipping business stocks skyrockets in Japan. As to Kyoei Tanker, this company's P/E(price/earnings) rate, we call it PER(Price Earnings Ratio) in Japan, are over 100. What an unbelievable ratio. A company calculate they will earn only 5 cent per stock or so, but the stock price is 4.68 dollars now. It must be a speculative issue. My stock's ratio is 13 to 14 or so.

There's always somebody above you. Taiheiyo Kaiun's P/E ratio is 443.96 now. This company calculate they will earn 0.7 cent per stock or so. But the stock price is now 3.37 dollars.

Those companies would earn more than they calculated. But all I can do is laughing the ratio. This situation is like Chinese stocks. There is always someone who loves gamble. If my stock's ratio become over 400, I would die of shock. But it is impossible and I never buy such risky stocks.

Moreover, I found some stocks are skyrocketing. Tokai-kisen, Kansai-kisen, Sado-kisen. 汽船(Kisen) means steamship in Japanese. Their stocks are skyrocketing or were skyrocketing. Although Kawasaki-kisen is one of biggest shipping company in Japan and it is a commercial ship company, Tokai-kisen, Kansai-kisen, Sado-kisen are just a sightseeing ship company. Who bought such company's stock? I guess Chinese amateur trader in Asia bought their stock because they can read the Kanji. Their ships cannot use as a tanker. And other shipping company's stocks whose name don't include "Kisen" were not skyrocketing. Do you have any boat? It is time to establish a shipping company!!! It would be OK, even if you have only a raft!!!

Well, I'm sleepy.

I watched a movie "ALWAYS Sancyoume no yuuhi". It is a story about people during high-growth period in Japan. It was quite good movie. There are many good old Japanese things in the movie. I've heard prime minister of China saw the movie and was moved. I feel envious to other Asian people. There are lot of dreams and better humanity in age of high-growth period. Period of low growth may not fun.

These ten years, Japanese movies become quite better. When I was a kid, Japanese movies were quite boring. But it is not difficult to find good movie now. Many movies has power to make me get moved with only pictures. There are many movies more interesting than Kurosawa's movies now. Kurosawa is KIng of movie even now but his old works make us live in now tired a little. Takashi Koizumi's works are my favorite. He made Ame-agaru. Amidado Dayori, Hakase no aishita sushiki. I hope you can watch them in English. I guess you can watch Ame-agaru in English. It is get a prize at Cannes or so.

It is a photo of "Tower of Sun" in Osaka Expo site designed by 岡本太郎 (Okamoto Taro) who is my favorite. The tower established in high growth period. Even now it is a symbol of ex high growth period.

The theme was "coexist with nature". Organizers of the Expo offered Okamoto to make a symbol tower and Okamoto accepted. But, it is said Okamoto thought such new city(Senri new town) never coexist with nature and made the tower as the symbol of the Expo and the face expresses nature's agony. I like his gut very much. I heard the story on TV.

Okamoto graduated Paris university(university of Paris?). He studied folklore. He was a well educated person and very unique. Also he understood Zen thought. I like his books very much. Always I look forward to see his works when I go to the museum. His saying is very famous in Japan. "芸術は爆発だ!(Art is explosion!)". Maybe current teenager don't know the word.

Have a nice day. Have a good sleep with good dream.

Pirates in Japan etc (rivesed)

Yo-ho, Yo-ho,, I watched "At the world's end" of Pirates last night. It was not fun less than I expected. Part one was most fan to me. The story line was excellent, I think. But latest one was so-so.

Many pirates all of the world gathered. I wanted to see Japanese pirates, maybe the age of Japanese pirates would be different from the movie's age though. Japanese pirates called as 倭冦(Wakou) by Chinese. They turned over caster of China and Korea. 倭 is derogatory term for Japan in Chinese. 冦 means feud; grudge; enemy; revenge; foe. Now Chinese people seems to call Japan as 小日本 (Shou-Nihon in Japanese sound) which means Small-Japan on their bad side. In addition, we sometimes use a word 支那(Shina) to call China. It seems Chinese people are not glad us to use the word. I don't find bad meaning in 支那, but seems that Chinese people have used the word politically incorrectly for a period of time.

It is said Japanese pirates had highest capable navigation at a time in past, before Age of Geographical Discovery. Their bases were west Japan. You can find an inland sea in Japan on the map. The area was it.

Several years ago, I checked what-like people beyond the sea in olden times and now in Japan. I found many of them are from west-Japan. Many of Japanese famous designers in Paris from west Japan. Many of early Japanese MLB players were from west Japan. Most of people in olden times beyond the sea were from west Japan.

There is a term "南船北馬" (Nansen-hokuba in Japanese pronunciation). It means that people move by horse in north China and move by ship in south China. I can coin "西船東馬"(Seisen-Touba) which means people move by ship in west Japan and move by hous in east Japan.

Horse culture is originally not Japanese culture. Korean people brought the culture to Japan. In ancient time, Japanese imperial court helped Korean people who lost war in Korea. Those Korean immigrated to Kanto region, current Tokyo area, and it was a start of horse culture of Samurai in Japan. It seems first large-number-dwellers in Tokyo area were Korean. Basically, Tokyo area was not Japan, was a land of Emishi people who were not Japanese race. I've read the word "東国"(東 means east, 国 means province, country etc) meant current midland of Japan. Therefore Mt. Fuji is in Eastest Japan in the age. Where I live now was so called barbaric land.

You know, there is also sea in east Japan. But people in east don't tend to beyond the sea. (Date Masamune, who was a famous war lord, his story did break through about 20 years ago, Ken Watanabe acted him) is the only one who tended to beyond the sea among east Japan people in very olden times, as far as I know. As to him, he is like a mutation like person in many sense, he was very western Japanese as eastern Japanese.

In medieval times, Japanese merchants in west Japan used to traded with east Asian country as well with China and Korea. There are several or many Japanese towns in South-East Asia. Some people say Japan has been internationalized these decades but it is just plugging back in the age, in that regard.

Also in ancient time, they may went to South East Asia, we often find (Raden-zaiku) design in mother-of-pearl inlay) on Japanese traditional artworks. They made them from raw materials brought from South-East Asia.

I guess some of them have met with captain Jack Sparrow at Singapore. Some of them would be captured by squid like captain. You know, Japan was a gold-mine country. Gold was cheaper than Silver in Japan. I guess Captains aimed Japanese gold. As to Japanese pirates, some had been being a lord in pre-modern era. As I recall, the family of my mother's friend was the lord family of one pirates who studied Japanese history at university with my mother.

Yo-ho,yo-ho,,,

It is a photo of Seto Inland sea where pirates were.

I found big mistake in English in this blog and corrected them I found.
