Great Books About Japan

I started to read a book "An introduction to Zen buddhism" written by D.T. Suzuki. His point of view is a bit old though, it is interesting to know which English word I should use to explain Zen Buddhism and to know of which westerners are interesting in Zen. I bought the book in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. But you can buy it on Amazon.

On this occasion, I make a list of great books which explain Japanese culture.

"An introduction to Zen buddhism"

by Suzuki Daisetz (D.T. Suzuki), in 1934

"Zen and Japanese culture"

by Suzuki Daisetz (D.T. Suzuki), in 1934

(And other Suzuki's book.)

"Bushido, the soul of Japan"

by Nitobe Inazo, in 1900

"The book of tea"

by Okakura Tenshin, in 1906

"The Ideals of the East-with special reference to the art of Japan"

by Okakura Tenshin, in 1903

"The Awakening of Japan"

by Okakura Tenshin, in 1904

"The Chrysanthemum and the Sword"

By Ruth Benedict, in 1946

"Zen in the Art of Archery"

By Eugen Herrigel, in 1953

Hmm,

Those are all what I could recall now.

Are there any great book you recommend?

It is a photo of Kobe city.
